In 2022, a Facilities and Long-Range Planning Committee was created to understand the needs of Belvidere’s school facilities. As part of this effort, the committee visited all school facilities and reviewed the District’s Demographic Study and Facility Assessment. Then, in January of 2023, a Facilities Master Plan Design Team was established – composed of approximately (50) stakeholders that included staff members, parents, community members, Board members, and high school students – to create the District's 10-Year Facilities Master Plan.

The Facilities Master Plan includes plans to improve the District’s safety and security, the creation of additional collaborative spaces at our sites, and the development of more secure entrances. In addition, the Master Plan addresses issues from the Facilities Assessment to include HVAC, roofs, and classroom spaces. The Master Plan also includes options to add a District Early Childhood Center, an expansion to the District's Alternative High School, Everest High School, and options to upgrade or close Perry Elementary School.

This planning process was designed to better understand building conditions and system needs, enrollment trends/capacity, educational program requirements, and the District’s long-term financial responsibility — then translate those findings into a clear path for moving from assessment to action to informed long-term decision making.​
